paragon of blight is weird because it rewards you for punishing your own creatures. All the others reward you for already having stuff that helps you. Why not '-1/-1 counter on permanents you don't control'?

I also think energy counters are too narrow to be on a card like this. They only feature in one set.

Yeah, I should make that change.

Does anybody know if there's a better fifth candidate than energy counters though?

Should probably be "X or fewer" colors, so that if a player's multi-colored creature suddenly loses a color, the spell isn't countered upon resolution. Also, asking players to start caring about the number of colors is a bit of a complexity step. Combined with the possibly fantastic rate on the card, this might be better placed at Rare.
