In memorandum,

Cherished Memories |
Enchantment | {R}
If you would discard a card, you may exile it with Cherished Memories instead.
At the beginning of your draw step, put a card exiled with Cherished Memories into your hand.

If this is inspired by a real-life event, I'm sorry.

The card seems really strong, since it's effectively a one-sided Howling Mine in the right deck. It also allows you to reuse discarded cards over and over for degenerate combos. I think it would have less potential for abuse if it didn't provide card advantage.

Cherisher of Memories

Creature - Human Wizard (R)
1/3

If you would draw a card for the first time in a turn, you may skip that draw. If you do, exile a card in your graveyard. Until end of turn, you may play that card from exile.

Thanks chinkeeyong, it is. Yeah, it is quite strong in the right deck. Wasn't really sure how to appropriately cost it, since outside of the right deck, it's also not very strong at all. Making it a creature would likely help solve that issue for sure.

Really Big Gloves -
Artifact - Equipment | R
Your maximum hand size is increased by 1.
Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, if you don’t have a maximum hand size, sacrifice Really Big Gloves. Otherwise, draw cards up to your maximum hand size.

I think the simplest fix would be to have it only work off of discarding from opponents' effects. It would be pretty sideboard-y then though. Maybe put it on a body to up the versatility.
The name also jives weirdly with the color. I think if this were black's take on the concept it would be "Hold ONto The Past" or something. The memories themselves sound more blue.

I'd make a joke about the card being based on a bad memory of having to discard, but I'll keep my witticisms arms-length in tone until I hear that it's not a reference to something tragic.
