The Rules

How To Nominate:
Quote the post with the card you want to nominate. Delete everything in that post other than the card. Copy and paste your quote into a post on this thread.
If you did it right the quote tag should link to the original post.

What's Eligible?
Any fan-designed M:TG card posted since the most recent CotW thread went live is eligible. It doesn't even have to be the first time the card was posted. Yes, Un cards are valid. No, Yugioh cards are not.

What's Not Eligible?
  • Nominating your own cards. You can only nominate cards by other people
  • Nominating a card from your own repost, regardless of whether or not the original post was yours.
  • Nominations that result from collusion. If a nomination is made in exchange for some sort of favour, or under some sort of threat, then the nomination is void.
  • Cards that have already won CotW are not eligible for future CotWs.
  • Nominations that I consider to be jokes or trolling.

A Note On Contests:
Many contest holders feel that having an entrant nominated for CotW will skew the results of their contest. To prevent this while still allowing those cards their chance at nomination, any card submitted to a contest is eligible for nomination to CotW as though the date the contest (or pertinent round of the contest) ended was the date the card was posted.

I nominated 4 of these, and I also really like all the other 3, so I'm just not gonna vote. Great contenders this week, IMO!

Priest seems a little pushed when Priest of Urabrask (itself a color shift of Priest of Gix) and Burning-Tree Emissary are things. I know we like strong cards here, but I'm not comfortable with a mana-positive creature.

Lunar Geode invites some memory issues (it should use the "counter and change for as long as it has a counter" template, IMO), but I like its style and flavor.

Miracle has a lot of problems, thanks to its weird, finicky, judge-call-inducing trigger. Omen seems somehow even worse, because it's free. I'd really rather a forecast ability for :r: or :1::r:, even though that's reusable.

Path//Victory reminds me a lot of Cabal Therapy, but it can't actually hit cards on its first round, and it costs CD rather than C+Sac to do its thing. Feels kind of weak, but I'd use it in EDH if I didn't despise the aftermath frame enough to pretty much discount aftermath cards.

Mad Tyrant is kind of random. I like what it does, but how much madness saturation would you need to make it work... and how much madness saturation would be OK to have a 3-mana Magus of the Future?

I'll be honest, I love Ancestral Technique. A do-nothing cantrip for :u: is a much discussed topic (since pretty much any cantrip+ sees play, potentially even game-breaking levels of play). The condition to get a recall is very hard, and since subgames aren't really a thing basically requires you to have hit 5+ mana and resolved an extra turn card (already an insanely valuable play), so it's mostly trinket text. Why do I feel that this would be ignored in Standard and even Modern but restricted in Vintage?

But Tevish, that's why it turns it face down.
Also I think there's a fringe playable extra turns deck in Modern.

So like, target week only? You can't prey on target month, year, or day? Seems niche, but timely.

Wouldn't "Put a -1/-1 counter on target creature, then it fights target creature you control" be more elegant?

I voted Lunar Geode because it's ridiculous.
Although there might be memory issues/shenanigans if opp is playing a morph deck :D

Do not vote for Path /to/ Victory please. I'm pretty sure it was a joke entry due to a typo with the last CotW thread title.

I do seriously like the card, but I admit that I nominated the card as a joke because the previous CotW submission was dated November 2017.

Oh, now I get it. I thought I must have gotten the day wrong. I'll go fix that. And I'll invalidate that nomination. Taking it out of the poll might reset everything, but I'll just mentally discount it.

Sorry Epic, I guess you'll just have to settle for having the honour of a pseudo nomination.

I kinda like tevish card, but I fear that it would be played wrong. Giving a creature zero toughness in the middle of resolving a spell is probably better accompanied by reminder text.

arathinius nominated my card "terramorphic" which used oversized basic lands. This wasn't a joke design, it was a serious idea to stop people shuffling the wrong cards into their deck at the end of the game

Search your library for four land cards, reveal them, and shuffle your library. Put one of those cards on top of your library, one onto the battlefield, one in your hand, and one in your graveyard.

Wish it wasn't in graveyard, but it is nice.

Where else would it be? In exile?

South has to be somewhere.

I wish this was four differently-named lands. I'm OK with graveyard BTW.

Sorry. It's a little late to add anything to the poll now, but I can slip it in to the next one. PM or post here to remind me.
