Barrin had always hated leather. Unfortunately for Mirri, his opinion could not be suede.

So I'm not in the bracket to participate this round in Rag's contest, but I thought I'd make a card for it anyway

criteria is make a card with a creature type in a color not generally associated with that creature type

I really like green goblins (not the spider-man kind, that scene where he gets all injected out freaked the **** out of me when i was a kid) but that's been done before so hmmm

maybe white elves? eh that was done in shadowmoor too…

hmm

Lava Lurker
Creature — Leviathan (R)
When Lava Lurker enters the battlefield, it deals 4 damage to target creature.
When Lava Lurker leaves the battlefield, it deals 8 damage to target creature.
4/8

I could go for a red leviathan that lives in the molten ocean of the earth's core. I like how the abilities match up with the P/T too- nice touch. Seems balanced. Aside from going super big though, I don't get the leviathan vibe. I guess it makes sense with the lavaness though.

*"To YMTC it up" means to design cards that have value mostly from a design perspective. i.e. you would put them in a case under glass in your living room and visitors could remark upon the wonderful design principles, with nobody ever worring if the cards are annoying/pointless/confusing in actual play

Inspired by further thoughts on:

Gethyra, the Kiss of Death
Legendary Creature — Insect Shaman (M)
Hexproof, deathtouch
Whenever Gethyra, the Kiss of Death deals combat damage to a player, that player loses the game.
The Kelvori have a ritual in which, on the night before a wedding, an invitation is written to the bog queen and thrown into a nearby swamp. Failure to do so, they believe, will doom the bride to a sickly death.
