I don't think any Planeswalkers are Her Serenity, the Lady of Pain... but in the old days we could hand out the title of "The Mightiest Planeswalker" (Taysir)

And again, that kind of superlative descriptor just doesn't appeal to me. Firstly, from a technical standpoint, the only way you can state that such-and-such is the ____est of anything is if you have both a scale of what that means, and complete knowledge of every other instance of that thing. So you can only be "the most powerful time mage in the multiverse" if there is a definitive power scale, and if every single time mage in the multiverse has been rated on that scale.

But even if you take the "technical" definition out of it, it just feels to me like childish writing. Why can't Teferi be "an incredibly powerful time mage?" And why do you need the descriptor at all? If the writing and the portrayal of the character is competent, it should become apparent that he's powerful. It shouldn't need to be stated.

Didn't that get retconned to Urza at some point?
Sad thing was it didn't really add anything to Urza's character. Whereas with Taysir, it felt not just justified but almost needed; he was the prophesied fusion of 5 different walkers after all. Urza was just a competent dude that WOTC wanted to shine a light on.

Teferi's definitely got a case for being the most powerful time mage, but it's not like we actually know much about the competition.
